How do I find an article when I know the citation?

Answer

  1. Go to Library website – https://library.stfx.ca
  2. Click on the Tab for Google Scholar

  • In the Google Scholar Search box, paste your citation and click search. If you search Google Scholar through the Library webpage, you will get the “Check for full text @ X” links.
  • Click the link, "Check for full text @ X", next to your article

  • If StFX has access to the article you will see, “Full Text Availability”. Click on the title or the small arrow in the top right had corner. You will be brought to your article.

  • Sometimes you may not see the “Check for Full Text @ X” link. Instead, you should click on the two greater than signs below the citation.
  • You will now see an option called “No full text available”. Click this link.

  • Sometimes, we still have access! Click the arrow in the to right hand corner or the name of the articles name.
  1. Other times, you will have to request the article through Interlibrary Lending (ILL). Under the “How to get it” heading, click the "Resource Sharing” button
For more information about Interlibrary Lending (ILL), you can go here:  https://stfx.ca/library/borrow/interlibrary-lending-ill
