How do I place an Interlibrary Loan?

Answer

  • From within a Novanet Catalogue search, on the title you wish to request, click on the link "Available at other libraries. Request item.".

  • In the "Availability & Request" section, sign in

  • Choose the appropriate sign in link for you, and then authenticate.

  • Click the "Request from Other Libraries" block.

  • Fill in all relevant information on the form:
    • Confirm the "Show fields for" section is toggled to the correct source type.  You should not have to change this field in most cases.
    • Check the box for "I only need a specific chapter or pages" if you only need a portion of the book (within Copyright guidelines), otherwise leave it unchecked to get a physical book.
      • In the Chapter field, be sure to indicate the chapter number or name that you require.
      • If known, enter the page range of the section you need in the "Pages" field.
      • Do not change the preferred pickup institution for chapter or article requests.
    • For physical items that are available in Novanet, you may choose any Novanet Library as your "Pickup Institution".
    • The "Preferred Local Pickup Location" field is mandatory and will be used if the item requested is sourced from outside the Novanet consortium.
    • Add any additional information in the "Comment" field.
    • Agree to the copyright statement.
    • Click "Send Request".
