What was the Antigonish Movement?

Answer

The Antigonish Movement was an economic movement which taught self-help and self-reliance through various adult education techniques. The name came from the work of the StFX Extension Department (est. 1928), which used study groups, mass meetings, educational materials, radio and television to help develop community leaders, cooperative societies, credit unions, people’s schools, and labour schools, etc. Its peak years were from the 1930's - 1960's.
